New car protection for a BMW M3: XPEL film and Gtechniq ceramic coating
This 2018 BMW M3 (F80) came to our Wiltshire studio in Azurite Black for our new car protection detail, with a two-stage machine polish, XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film and a full set of Gtechniq coatings across every surface, Crystal Serum Ultra topped with EXO v4 on the paint. A near-black metallic looks its best on the day it is delivered, and the point of protecting one from new is that it still looks that way in five years.
Two-stage machine polishing
A new car is not a perfect car. Transport, storage and the dealer wash before handover all leave their mark, and film and coatings both seal in whatever is underneath them. The M3 was safely washed and fully decontaminated, then given a two-stage machine polish before any protection went on, so what was sealed in was the finish the car should have arrived with rather than the one it turned up with.
XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film
XPEL Ultimate Plus is the only protection that physically stops a stone chip rather than making the paint easier to wash. It is self-healing, so light marks in the surface of the film disappear with heat, and it carries a 10-year warranty against yellowing and peeling. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra and EXO v4
Crystal Serum Ultra is Gtechniq’s hardest coating and can only be applied by accredited detailers, which is why it is fitted here rather than sold in a bottle. EXO v4 was layered over the top to add a slick, strongly water-repellent surface, so the car sheds water and road grime and stays cleaner between washes. Coatings went on every surface, not just the paint: glass, wheels and trim were all treated, which is what makes the whole car easier to look after rather than one panel of it.
